What’s in a name? The story behind WiseKind

Why WiseKind?

The name WiseKind blends two powerful ideas that shaped my own healing journey.

When I started dreaming up what would eventually become WiseKind, I knew I wanted the name to mean something - not just to sound catchy or polished, but to capture the heart of what I wanted to build.

WiseKind isn’t just a brand name. It’s a philosophy - shaped by my own healing, my lived experience as a neurodivergent professional, and my hope for what work could be if we stopped forcing people to fit into rigid molds and started designing environments where people can actually thrive.

Wise Mind - A DBT Lifeline

The “Wise” in WiseKind comes from Wise Mind, a core concept in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Wise Mind is the middle ground between Emotional Mind (where feelings rule the show) and Rational Mind (where cold logic takes over). Wise Mind honors both - it’s the place where you can see the full truth: emotions matter and so do the facts.

When I was in DBT, working to recover from severe burnout and trauma, Wise Mind became a guiding light. It helped me make decisions from a place of clarity instead of reactivity. That idea - trusting both feelings and knowledge - has served as a foundation which has helped me live in alignment with my values.

In the world of work, we need more Wise Mind energy. We need to recognize that systems create burnout, not individual “weaknesses.” We need to honor lived experience as the highest form of expertise. And we need to build policies and cultures that actually work for all humans.

Kindness > Niceness

The “Kind” in WiseKind is intentional, too - and it’s not the same as being nice.

Niceness is about keeping the peace at all costs - even if that means avoiding hard conversations, ignoring justice, or leaving problems unaddressed. Niceness is about comfort.

Kindness, on the other hand, is about courage. It’s about telling the truth, even when it’s uncomfortable, because you care enough to be honest. Kindness looks at exclusion, ableism, or bias and says “We can do better.” Kindness is action-oriented compassion.

WiseKind is about bringing Wise Mind clarity and courageous kindness to the world of work - especially for neurodivergent professionals who deserve more than survival. We deserve careers where we can show up fully, as our authentic selves, and still succeed.

That’s the story behind the name - and the heart behind this whole thing.
